30.03.10/ A most wonderful Tuesday evening/ Copyright by L.E.
Although my feet are drenched in rain
I feel a gentle breeze
That clears away all pondering
I see the ev’ning light again,
And hear the call of summer sing
In golden bare- branched trees.
The promise dwelling in these buds
is true as true can be:
It lets my faintest hopes run high
Out of the deepest muds
To meet a brilliant deep blue sky
In glorious melody.
The songs of days and weeks have passed
And summers have gone by
The yearning planted in my soul
Seemingly withers fast
Yet thoughts that I’ll be home and whole
become a yellow cry.
Summer beyond all clouds of rain
Is where, my God, you are.
Melodies join in symphonies.
You wipe away my tears and stain,
You maker of the sunbeam’s bliss
And shepherd of my heart.
